It's said in high school sports many times, probably too many times, “it was closer than the final score indicated”.  The 1999 Trimble/Nelsonville-York game may have been a good example of this commonly used saying.  The Buckeyes beat the Tomcats 33-7, but two plays turned the game.  With less than three minutes to go in the third quarter, Trimble had the ball down by six points with a first and goal from the four.  On the fourth and goal play, the Buckeye defense sacked Trimble's quarterback to create the turnover on downs.  The very next play, Nelsonville-York running back Jon Arnold broke loose 90 yards for the score.  With the score 21-7 and the winds out of their sails, the Tomcats never threatened again.  The game had started like a route, Nelsonville-York had an early 13-0 lead at the end of the first quarter following a 28-yard pass to Noah Watkins from Jasper Bateman, and a 82-yard connection from Bateman to Jon Arnold.  The Tomcats came back in the second quarter with a six-yard scoring pass from Bobby Trace to Justin Guinther.  After the dramatic turn of events in the third quarter, the Buckeyes added two fourth quarter scores on by David Burnette from 15-yards away, and the other a five-yard Chase Elliott run.  Nelsonville-York got the much needed win to up their record to 2-3, while Trimble fell to 0-5.
