Nelsonville-York Coach Kevin Meade got consistancy out of his team in the 1997 match-up.  The Buckeyes scored two touchdowns in every quarter, and almost identical totals of yards rushing and passing enroute to a 54-0 win over the Tomcats.   An interception by the Buckeyes on the first offensive play of the game gave Nelsonville-York a short field for a drive that was capped by a one yard Eric Glass touchdown.  The next Tomcat drive was cut short with a fumble, and Nelsonville-York scored two plays later on a one yard run by Jeff Bickley.  Trimble was able to mount a drive to the Buckeye seven, before turning the ball over again.  Nelsonville-York then decided to march the ball methodically down the field on an eleven play 93-yard drive that ended when Ben Robey found Clay Watkins on a 14-yard touchdown pass.  On the Buckeyes next possession, Robey hit Josh Walker for 52-yards that set up another one-yard Glass touchdown.  Going into the half, the Bucks were up 27-0.  The second half was much like the first half with one exception, the Buckeyes seemed to be scoring on the big plays, not just setting up scores with them.  The first score of the third quarter was a 29-yard run by Glass.  Watkins then intercepted a Trimble pass and returned it 31-yards for the score.  Trimble then fumbled on their own two-yard line which was recovered by the Buckeyes.  On the next play back-up quarterback Jasper Bateman scored on a sneak.  The Tomcats received the next kickoff deep in their own territory and were forced to punt, which led to a bad exchange from long snapper to punter, and Nelsonville-York's David Burnette making the tackle for the saftey.  The final score of the game came in the form of a 71-yard Matt Katterhenrich run.  Nelsonville-York upped its record to 5-0 while Trimble falls to 1-4 Team Stats First Downs: NY 16 T 11 Scrimmage Plays: NY 58 T 71 Rushing/Yards: NY 36-237 T 40-(-55) Passing Yards: NY 214 T 94 Total Yards: NY 450 T 39 Passes A/C/Int: NY 12-22-1 T 11-31-4 Fumbles/Lost: NY 3-1 T 4-2 Penalties/Yards: NY 8-86 T 5-30 Punts/Average: NY 1-35 T 5-31 Individual Stats were unreadable.
