The 1995 match-up of the Tomcats and the Buckeyes had a different feeling then the previous few years. Nelsonville-York had dominated the recent meetings, and most fans felt they would be treated to a competitive game between these two rivals. Trimble entered the fray 3-1 and Nelsonville-York was 2-2. What also made this game interesting was the fact that the Buckeyes were starting freshman Ben Robey at quarterback. The pressure Robey may have felt was probably relieved on the second offensive play of the game. Robey ran an option to the left and pitched to Nathan Stalder. Stalder then rushed 72-yards for the score. The extra-point was no good, and the score remained 6-0 through the remainder of the first quarter. As the first half was drawing to a close, Trimble running back Shayne Stanley connected on a half-back pass to receiver Chas Richards for a 45-yard gain that put the 'Cats inside the ten. Three plays later Zach Miller ran the quarterback sneak for a one-yard score. The kick was no good and the score remained 6-6. The following kickoff was returned into Tomcat territory and with 48 seconds to go in the half Robey found Jason Wickman for a 19-yard score. The two-point conversion failed and the score was 12-6 at the half. Both teams battled through a scoreless third quarter. On Nelsonville-York's first possession of the fourth quarter, Robery found the endzone on a one-yard sneak. The two-point conversion failed and the score stood at 18-6, where it would stay for the remainder of the contest.
