1993 Nelsonville-York Buckeyes 50 Trimble Tomcats 14
Week 5
Location: Glouster Memorial Stadium, Glouster, Ohio
Coaches: Nelsonville-York - Kevin Meade, Trimble - Greg Holbert
Series Record: NYHS 14 THS 8 Ties 2
Unfortunately for the Trimble Tomcats, Nelsonville-York junior running back Justin Gail was as good as advertised.  Gail scored four touchdowns and rushed for 181 yards in the 50-14 route of the Tomcats.  Trimble understood that for them to have a chance they had to do big things in a hurry, and they started the game with an onside kick.  The Buckeyes were able to recover and four plays later quarterback Jeff Warix found Anthony Polley for a 40-yard score.  The first of Tad Steinbrink's six extra-points followed and the Bucks were up 7-0.  After a Tomcat turnover, Warix was caught in the backfield, fumbled and Trimble took over on the 13-yard line.  Three plays later Rusty Richards found Travis Campbell in the corner of the endzone for the nine-yard score.  Then came the second quarter and an explosion by Justin Gail.  Gail opened the scoring for the quarter by rushing untouched 15 yards four the touchdown.   Trimble then fumbled the following kick-off which the Buckeyes recovered in Tomcat territory.  Gail scored from a yard away to make the score 21-6.  After a Trimble fumble Jason Gail ran in from eleven yards to raise the score to 28-6.  Nelsonville-York then took over on the Trimble 24-yard line after a error in the Tomcat punting game.  Justin Gail once again to advantage of the shortened field and scored from 13-yards away.  But what would become a 34 point quarter was not finished.  Gail capped the scoring for the half by rushing 36 yards to increase the Buckeyes halftime lead to 41-6.  Nelsonville-York's only touchdown of the second half was a one-yard score by Chad Inman in the third quarter.  At the start of the fourth quarter, Jason Gail recorded a safety by tacking a Trimble back in the endzone.  The final score of the game was a two-yard run by Richards.  Trimble's Dennis Orsborne ran in the two-point conversion.  Nelsonville-York heads into league play in the newly formed TVC-Ohio with a record of 4-1.  Trimble starts TVC-Hocking play at 2-3.
