Football is a team sport, but individual competition amongst teammates sometimes pushes the group to excell. After ten games one such competition came down to two measley yards. That's what gave Nelsonville-York senior running back Glen Flores the TVC rushing title over teammate Casey Nungester. Both entered the week ten contest with 997 yards, but it was Flores with 142 yards in the final game that would edge out Nungester. As a consolation prize, Nungester would outscore Flores in the Trimble game three touchdowns to one. The first of his touchdowns came with just under three minutes left in the first quarter when he found the endzone from seven yards out. Trimble answered back in an unusual way when defensive tackle Josh Chalfant blocked a Buckeye punt and recovered it in the endzone. After a Charlie Gatchel kick the score was tied 7-7. Freshman Justin Gail then intercepted a pass that set up Nungester's second TD, this time from five yards away. After a forcing the Tomcats to a three and out Flores scored on a 35-yard run. Nungester then capped the scoring for Nelsonville-York with a one-yard fun with 48 seconds left in the first half. The only score of the second half was a Trimble 40-yard connection from Rusty Richards to Roger Jenkins. Trimble finishes the year at 3-7. Nelsonville-York ends its season at 8-2, 6-1 in league play for a second place finish.
