1979 Trimble Tomcats 7 Nelsonville-York Buckeyes 6
Week 5
Location: Glouster Memorial Stadium, Glouster, Ohio
Coaches: Trimble - Ed Bolin, Nelsonville-York - Dave Boston
Series Record: NYHS 5 THS 4 Ties 1
Trimble Coach Ed Bolin's first hire as an assistant coach was Nelsonville-York graduate Ed Terwilliger.  When he was hired, Bolin promoted the first time assistant to defensive cordinator telling him that he didn't care what defense he ran, because Bolin felt his high powered offense lead by Mike Roback, Bill Jones and Gene Campbell would be able to put many points on the board.  Therefore it's ironic that in the biggest game of the year, the defenses would be the focal point of the contest.  Three of the game's four quarters were scoreless with the only points of the game coming in the second quarter.  It was Nelsonville-York that got on the board first when the rushing attack of junior Dave Boston Jr. fueled a drive that ended with him scoring from two yards away.  Trimble answered back on the next series as their three headed backfield marched them down to the one yard line.  Mike Roback scored the Tomcats only touchdown on a one-yard sneak, he then kicked the extra-point to bring the score to 7-6 at the half.  The defenses would take over in the second half and the 7-6 score would stand up as the final.  Trimble would be Nelsonville-York's lone blimish on their league record as they would defeat Belpre, who was Trimble's only league lost, therefore creating a tie for the TVC championship.
