| On the opening possession of the game Trimble quarterback Kevin Meade threw a swing pass over to tailback Jeff McClelland, who after some nice downfield blocking, and 51 yards later, put the Tomcats on the scoreboard. That one defensive breakdown was the only of the night as both teams' defense played a outstanding game. Three times the Tomcats were inside there ten yard line, and three times the came away with no points added to their total. In contrast the Tomcat defense only allowed the Buckeyes into their territory twice, the second time late in the game when Trimble's defense bended to their own 23 yard line, only to force a turnover on downs after Nelsonville-York came up short on a fourth and three. Jeff McClelland was the leading rusher with 145 yards. Gary Edwards paced the Buckeyes' offense with 79 yards.
