1973 Nelsonville-York Buckeyes 48 Trimble Tomcats 0
Week 2
Location: Glouster Memorial Stadium, Glouster, Ohio
Coaches: Nelsonville-York - Dave Boston, Trimble - Paul Culver
Series Record NYHS 3 THS 1
In an overhall, the Glouster Tomcats changed their name to Trimble and hired a new coach, Paul Culver, but the result against the Buckeyes remained the same as the past two matchups.  Nelsonville-York stormed to a 48-0 win, again holding the Tomcats to under 100 yards total offense.  Dave Pritchard for the second straight year against the Tomcats threw for three touchdowns and again, Greg Smathers was a key aspect to the Buckeyes scoring.  Smathers got the scoring started with his only rushing touchdown, from nine yards out, in the first quarter.  Pritchard then found Smathers for a 32 yard scoring pass before the opening quarter came to an end.  Prichard's other two touchdown passes were to Max Pitts from 29 and 32 yards out.  The Nelsonville-York defense also got involved in the scoring as Jay Echols tackled a Trimble running back to record a saftey, and Mike Beach fell on a Tomcat fumble in the endzone for the first of his two scores for the game.  Greg Smathers was the game's leading rusher with 15 carries for 115 yards.  Randy Trace rushed for 46 yards for the Tomcats, the rest of whom gained negative 38 yards, leaving Trimble's rushing total at eight yards.  As bad as it was the game could have been worse, the Buckeyes had three touchdowns called back.
