| In the wake of a 58-0 drubbing of Glouster it would be hard to tell what aspect of the game coach Dave Boston was most happy with. Was it his offense that tallied over 300 yards total offense and scored seven touchdowns? Could it be his defense which forced six Tomcat turnovers and scored two touchdowns of its own? Maybe it's the fact that a majority of his main contributors were not only underclassmen, but Sophomores. The Buckeyes took half of the first quarter before cracking the scoreboard when Sophomore running back Kim Rosser rushed 45 yards to paydirt. Rosser would finish the game with 12 carries for 116 yards. Next into the scoring frenzy for the Buckeyes was the game's leading rusher, Dan Dishong who ran up 139 yards on the 'Cats. The first of two scores for Dishong was a six yard run capping a 60 yard drive. Dishong's second touchdown, an eight yard run, begain what may be the highest scoring quarter in the series history. During the third quarter Nelsonville-York scored 38 points stretching a 13 point lead to a 51 point advantage. Next on the scoring chart for the Buckeyes was Junior halfback Dave Triplett who scored from two yards out. Then came deja vu. Middle linebacker Ed Bateman intercepted a pass and returned it 25 yards for the score, then on the first play of Glouster's next possession Ed Bateman intercepted a pass and returned it 48 yards for the pick six. Another Sophomore running back, this time Greg Smathers got on the board with a three yard run and pushed the score up to 45-0. The final score for the Buckeyes in the third quarter was on a fourth and 38 on the Glouster 48 yard line. Sophomore quarterback Bill Woodson found Smathers in stride to light up the visiting side of the scoreboard with a 51. With mass substitutions in the fourth quarter the Buckeyes were able to hit paydirt only once. The final score came when Sophomore quarterback Dave Pritchard snuck in from the one.
